The Karachi Port handled 118,673 tonnes of cargo comprising 84,414 tonnes of import cargo and 34,259 tonnes of export cargo including 6,890 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 84,414 tonnes comprised of 43,909 tonnes of containerised cargo; 12,389 tonnes of general cargo; 20,116 tonnes of bulk cargo: 15,103 tonnes of coal; 4,270 tonnes of steel scrap; 743 tonnes of general cargo and 8,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 34,259 tonnes comprised of 34,209 tonnes of containerised cargo and 50 tonnes of general cargo. As many as 6,890 containers comprising of 3,126 containers import and 3,764 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,185 of 20's and 822 of 40's loaded while 25 of 20's and 136 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 926 of 20's and 429 of 40's loaded containers while 692 of 20's and 644 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were seven ships namely APL Japan, Virgo, Newark, Long Beach Trader, Ever Unique, Rowan-2 and Kong Que Song carrying containers, steel and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels viz. Maribor, Polo, Tubul, Prosper, MT Lahore and Western Santos carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There were two ships namely Prosper and Pan Ivy carrying containers and iron scrap respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while two ships namely Maribor and Polo carrying containers are expected to sail on Wednesday.

There were seven vessels viz. Sima Genesis, YM Orchid, Hyundai Courage, MSC Maria Laura, Phoenix, Bum Shin and Common Spirit carrying containers, oil tankers and steel respectively due to arrive on Tuesday, while five vessels viz. MOL Eminence, Wide India, Maliakos, Tiger Beijing and JO Pinari carrying containers, coal and mogas respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 139,153 tonnes comprising 112,270 tonnes of import cargo and 26,883 tonnes of export cargo including 3,583 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 112,270 tonnes includes 57,000 tonnes of LNG, 555 tonnes of coal; 10,730 tonnes of canola seeds and 43,985 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 26,883 tonnes includes; 2,791 tonnes of rice and 24,092 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,583 containers comprising of 2,268 containers import and 1,315 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. There were two ships namely CV Mediterranean Bridge and MT Kano carrying containers and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while three more ships namely CV MSC Maeva, CV Newark and MT Epic Sardina carrying containers and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of nine vessels viz. CV Mediterranean Bridge, CV MSC Maeva, CV Newark, MV Pan Oceanis, MV Kirri Billi, MT Epic Sardina, MT White Purl, MT Kano and MT Al Khattiya were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, canola seeds, LPG and LNG respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as ten ships namely CV MSC Busan, MV Alios Nicolas, MV Era-S, MV Kong Qeu Song, MV Reem-3, MT Gas Amazon, MT Maria-III, MT Brizo, MT Glorious and MT Horizon carrying containers, soyabean, rice, project cargo, bitumen, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six vessels viz. CV Maersk Memphis, CV Alexandia, CV MSC Busan, MV Reem-3, MT Glorious and MT Horizon carrying containers, bitumen, diesel oil and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Oil Terminal respectively on Tuesday. There were seven ships namely CV Uni Florida, CV Maipo, MV Kong Que Song, MV Forest Honest, MV Great-61, MT Ondo and MT Bahra carrying containers, project cargo, coal, steel, LNG and diesel oil respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.
